Quest for the Kraken: A Lesson in RNG

A lot of players complain about RNG in this game, but I thought it might be useful to provide some statistic evidence to support the claims.

My character wasn't strong enough to pursue The Kraken from the Storm Raider's job when it was first released. However, since then I've become much stronger and have pursued it almost solely.

In fact all 200+ of my kills have been after the revamp of this job.

I should also note that almost all of my attempts have achieved over 30,000 points on this boss, above the accepted 28,000 3 Epic Threshold. As a Result I have obtained 263 Nautica Epics:

I have successfully built 38 Leviathans, and have many extra parts:

Considering that each Leviathan required 5 Epics, I have collected (5*38)+45+44+47+23=349 Leviathan Parts.

In all that is 612 (+the few Kraken parts received below) Epics from this boss.

In addition, and to some Irony I have received 3 of Diablo's Pistols.

As far as the Kraken goes, after all this killing, I am still waiting on one part, but I have only gotten 7 of the others, effectively giving me a 1% drop-rate on these parts:

I know others results very, but interested in the community's thoughts on my progress.

Eager to move on to other bosses, or learn if there is some conspiracy theory truth about something I'm doing wrong, such as focusing my points on the wrong part of the boss, etc.

Impressive information. Wish they kept a counter past the achievements of how many times you have collected from a boss, but for your purposes probably wouldn't change the numbers % wise.

I was able to collect all the parts within about 70 bosses. It always seems like with everything your searching for one piece and multiples of others are dropping.

I would say, keep on your daily grind and save refills and FP for tech lab events and literally hit every one you can find on the public list.

It's one of those things that you might as well grab extra items from the event while chasing something long term.

At least that how I got mine.

I still don't have Dragon Fang been chasing it for a long long long long time.

I also got mine after about 100 bosses I hit the boss each time for about 25 - 30k. One thing I did notice is that although probably a coincidence I only seemed to get a Kraken part if I'd exed one of the bosses.

Thanks for your support, Ironically I got my Dragon Fang after 70 bosses... so, I'm seeing a pattern in here.

This is what I was referring to with conspiracy theories... I've seen posts before saying its only about the points, but I rarely X bosses in this boss, most often I join when Levithan is up, and get my points with about 1500 stamina from sniper. I'm worried that this pattern has made my odds lower than average, or that its not possible to get a drop while doing this.

I also help new very low level toons that join my empire to get drops off stronger bosses like mafia insurrection by setting up exes for them. Most times they get a piece for the ah77 war machine. Where as I never get any because I didn't exe. Again maybe just coincidence.

            yeah its pretty lame.
My reaper account(250 st) has build 2 copperhead killer gun with just about 100 phoenix bosses, while my lsi account(1k st) has done more then 250 of them and still isnt able to build it.

also u can notice by this screenshot how drops work and for some items the % is lower even if they both are epics.

It took me 9 months to finish the Kraken after it was released

I started trying different points, different classes, ex a boss, different collect times etc. It is possible even if it doesn't always feel like it.

Good luck though, the grind can wear a person down. Maybe take a sabbatical with another boss and come back to this one?

Same for me with phoenix resurrection.

                  Done over 300-400 with 30 000pts.
                  221 helicopter parts.
                  5 complete copperheads.

                  0 sins rifle.

one thing this topic shows if you want to war at sea you are alright, you have enough gear to have a armada of ships diving equipment for your seals and you can create a minefield to protect your army of leviathans lol.

My main has the kraken and my minis have it too, I'd say roughly after about 70 ish bosses, one of my poor team mate did the summoning and has never got the last piece for the kraken so has never made it since the boss came out, the rng seriously needs sorting out, the previous team of developers promissed rebalancing off boss drops the year before last and it never happened hope the new developers look into it.

This sucks, I myself have over 250 pheonix completed and was hoping sins rifle was gonna drop anytime. I have 3 copperheads.

As for the Kracken i got it in about 70 to 80 on both my accts. Its pure luck as much as it sucks just keep pounding it will fall one of these days.

                        Hey there!

My "minis" were able to built a kraken much sooner then my main, and literally did much less Storm Raider Bosses. I have one account who has incredibly luck on boss drops: Needed only 4 Parts for Kraken and 5 for Warmachine and 6 for Copperhead to get all 4 different to build the legendary item.

                        But what i do:
I hardly spend much stam per boss. I dont go up to 3rd threshold but stay just around 1st threshold and do more different bosses instead. Cause i just once or twice had a boss getting more then one part at a time. Sometimes u even seem more lucky if u stay some pts below 1st threshold (but on the other hand u maybe dont get an epic at all).

Had a look on my toons:
Main: over 200 bosskills, 7 parts (now kraken)
87 bosskills, 6 Parts (not all different though)
100 bosskills, 5 parts (but 4 different ones, so i got the kraken on this one already)
166 bosskills, 8 parts (4 different ones, kraken)
68 bosskills, 7 parts (4 different ones, kraken) <- that is the most luck one

But like i said: i just drop about 9000 and a bit pts per boss.
